Martin Heidegger Explained, Part 2: Later Writings
The long-awaited sequel to a video on "Being and Time" that I uploaded earlier this year. Watch it first if you haven't seen it: ruclips.net/video/bme25f0IUb8/видео.html
This video must by necessity be a lot less "structured" and a lot more of a "survey." As such, it will probably be much more difficult to understand. Part of that is just inevitable when it comes to later Heidegger's writings. But I do hope that you enjoy it and get a sense of the magic of these texts.
Note: accidentally duplicated a part of a sentence in a quote at 04:07:14... delete the sentence saying "Insofar as ground of THAT emptiness, which is thus already a definite one."

It's been a while. But I think I'm ready to return. Here, I discuss what to expect... although it won't be much for a while. Right now all work is going into a new lecture in the style of my Tractatus video. In any case, I am very thankful for everyone who has continued to stay subscribed and given me great feedback.

    While I absolutely disagree with the notion that we can separate the man from the thought, I do believe that his work - as well as that of others with questionable associations and decisions, a la Ezra Pound - is nonetheless invaluable and worthy of earnest study.

    Another so called Christian, trying to go his own way, reinvent the wheel and came up with a square. How old is this story? Brought up in a Christian home and society. Can’t cut it, can’t figure it out. So, what does the human do? Christianity does not align or flow with natural reason or inclination. It’s counter intuitive. So again, what does the human do? Well, if he’s like most all of us, he makes up his own way, that’s easiest, makes easy sense to his natural yearnings. I’ll tell you this, Christianity is like golf. It’s counter intuitive. You are hitting a huge slice and the ball keeps going way way to the right. So how does the mind, the whole being of the golfer think feel and do? Everything obviously and logically tells the golfer to swing and hit and aim more to the LEFT, duh! The ball is going way to the right, so I’m not a dummy, so I’m going more to the left. In theory, the ball should now go straight. WRONG FOOL !!!! The ball is slicing to the right precisely because you are swinging the club TO the left. It’s counter intuitive. So is Christianity. That’s why most people fail miserably at living it, thinking it through. They make up their own false way and fail. Now, I personally couldn’t and don’t accept such miserable, baffling failure in my life or my golf game. Not to be a D-bag here, but I’ll tell u the truth. I put a 62 on my golf Wednesday golf group last month. 10 birdies no bogies. The came back the following week a threw a 65 at em’. Oh, that’s when they ALL started bitching and complaining. Cause the skins money mostly ended up in my pocket. One guy congratulated and gave me some respect. Only one. I took the time, the effort, the THOUGHT, the frustration, the prayer, to figure out firstly what is really happening in space and time, where is the club itself supposed to go? Then, HOW it’s supposed to get there, as in what do all these different parts of my body DO, in order to move the club through space? THEN, that’s not good enough, the different parts of the club, AND the different parts of the body have to move correctly, NUT, they now have to move correctly AT THE rRIGHT TIME too!!! Synchronicity I think it’s called. Not easy to do man. I’m telling you. Cause I’ve done it. So now I look at almost ALL golfers when I go to the range. I understand they will always play poorly because they’re so far away. The concepts, the body training, the sync. The flow. The idea as a whole. They’re so far off. Same with Christianity. Living it. Doing it. Experience it and it makes PERFECT sense. Life is based on sacrifice at the end and the beginning. The universe is based on this. It’s counter intuitive to natural man. That’s why we suck at life, like our golf game. But…… If not for Logos, the WAY, if not for Jesus Christ, being himself the truth, full of grace and mercy, I would always suck at life, just like I’d always suck at golf, like ALMOST all men and women. Heidegger failed at christianity, shot a 120. As a young man, with a bad or no teacher, of course. Who wouldn’t fail? We all did. But he gave up and made up his own game, a different game. Went his own way. A short cut. But as he found out, it didn’t turn out to be a short cut. It was a LONG cut AND!!!!! It goes to NOWHRE. Heidegger, will get you lost.?he is a failed Christian. No 62, no promised land. He’s worth reading and understanding in the way as to learn what not to do. Don’t listen to people at the golf range tell you their little theories on the golf swing when even in their dreams at night, they don’t and couldn’t shoot a 62. They have no clue of the truth. Blind leading the blind as Jesus said. Any whoo, I have been writing WAY too long. Gotta go. And yes, I’m headed to the golf course. Good luck with YOUR score. Maybe Heidegger will help you. But I know the truth don’t I? I told you the answer. Now, you have to deal with your Natural WILL, like Heidegger had to in his life. Miserable score, miserable conclusion. Miserable life did Heidegger exhibit. Good luck

    Awesome! But maybe it's better to use "eastern" rather than "Japanese" at 9:51? Both "Zen" (as a branch of Chinese Buddhism, influencing Japanese Zen a lot) and "Taoist" originated in China. Only "Shinto" is purely Japanese?

    • @DwellingInTheFourfold
      @DwellingInTheFourfold 2 месяца назад

      This is true. I meant to imply that he was very "Japanese" in thought, and that many have pointed out his similarity to "eastern" philosophies that have had significant influences on Japanese culture (including ones that originated in China). I should have been clearer in my language, but oh well. Live and learn :)

      @@pseudoplotinus would you like to elaborate?

    • @pseudoplotinus
      @pseudoplotinus 5 дней назад

      @@Ethereal_dust philosophy reached its end at the beginning when the greeks acquired all that it amounted to from the indians, culminating in apophatic philosophy i.e. their method 'via negativa'. this is present in advaita vedanta, neoplatonism and first buddhism. officially it ends with John Scottus Eriugena, a neoplatonist who was the last to endorse the philosophy. post-antiquity the spirit of this philosophy diffused with the sentimentality of abrahamism, and post-rennaisance was destroyed completely, enjoying corrupt forms its various pseudo-platonisms (hegel, a platonist). then you have rubbish like existentialism come up, which is not philosophy but navel-gazing.
